CMZ :
India’s 8,118-km coastline and the livelihood of 3.5 million people which depend on fishing in its waters will be threatened if the government presses ahead with its plan to replace the protective measures of the coastal regulation laws of the 1991 with a new management (CMZ) concept. New coastal management plan jeopardizes livelihood of fishermen.
On 21st November 2007 wc handed over a petition demanding the Chief minister of tamilnadu to withdraw the CMZ,besides other demands like total cancellation of tsunami loans ,increase off season relief to Rs.12,000 and also took hunger strike in front of the state guest house.
Our main focus is coast is for coastal living people only .
