Climate Change

For over the past 200 years, the burning of fossil fuels, such as coal and oil, and deforestation has caused the concentrations of heat-trapping "greenhouse gases" to increase significantly in our atmosphere. These gases prevent heat from escaping to space, somewhat like the glass panels of a greenhouse.

The impacts of global warming are many and varied including melting glaciers, sea level rise, increase in summer temperatures, soil erosion, erratic rainfall, changes in agricultural yields, shoreline retreat, intensification of storms and cyclones, spread of vector borne diseases and extinction of plant and animal species

Understanding the multifaceted impacts of the global warming and generating awareness among the communities is of utmost importance. As the children are the best media to carry out the message to their homes and to the communities, We at Women’s Collective thought it would be wise to take the global warming advocacy direct to children at their schools.
